“Allamanda” is Kuching North’s City official flower. Its bright yellow colour and green leaves are similar to the corporate colours of Kuching North City Hall. “Allamanda” have two species : Allamanda cathartica (creeper) and Dwarf Allamanda (bush).
This plant originates from Guyana and Brazil in South America, but it has been planted in Malaysia for a few years now. It can flourish in our warm wet climate and resist parasitic infections and insects attack.
As it is easy to grow, this plant has a fast growth rate and produces flowers throughout the year. Allamanda is suitable to be planted on the roadside, in parks and gardens. As the City’s official flower, its long lasting characteristic and its bright and cheerful colour keep Kuching North beautiful throughout the year. |
