KUCHING (March 20): The Kuching City North Commission (DBKU) hosted a Ramadan iftar event this evening at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex, attended by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The gathering aimed to strengthen ties between state leadership, DBKU staff, and the local community while honoring the holy month of Ramadan.
“As part of its charitable outreach, DBKU also presented Ramadan contributions to 20 orphans from the Datuk Amar Hajjah Jumaani Welfare Centre, reflecting its commitment to supporting those in need during this sacred month,” DBKU said in a statement.
Approximately 300 DBKU staff members attended the event, embracing the spirit of togetherness as they broke fast alongside the Premier.
His presence underscored the state government’s appreciation for public servants and its dedication to fostering unity in governance.
“DBKU expressed hope that similar gatherings will continue in the future as a platform to enhance team spirit and reinforce camaraderie among its personnel,” said DBKU.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, DBKU Datuk Bandar Dato Hilmy Othman, and other officials.
