KUCHING: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) upheld its annual tradition of celebrating the spirit of giving during Ramadan.

This year, the spotlight shone on orphans, tahfiz students, and special needs children, as they were honoured and feted at the DBKU Iftar event in the presence of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The serene ambiance of the DBKU headquarters at Bukit Siol provided the perfect setting for the gathering, where over 200 guests congregated to partake in the blessings of Ramadan.

Among those present were DBKU staff, representatives from the Datuk Amar Hajah Juma’ani Welfare Centre, and students from the Al-Khairat Madrasah in Kampung Pinang Jawa.

The highlight of the evening was the symbolic presentation of contributions to 27 children.

The  beneficiaries included orphans from the families of DBKU employees, students of the Al-Khairat Madrasah, and special needs children under the care of the Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Welfare Centre.

Following the heartfelt gesture of giving, Abang Johari and distinguished guests joined together in Maghrib and Terawih prayers.

Among the esteemed guests were Deputy Minister for Utilities and Communications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaid, Deputy Minister in Premier Department Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relation Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Deputy State Secretary Datuk Mohamad Abdullah Zaidel, DBKU Mayor Hilmy Othman, and DBKU director Mohamed Khaidir Abang.
