KUCHING (March 23): The Satok Ramadan bazaar went into full swing today with a total of 95 stalls set-up offering a variety of dishes.

Located throughout Lorong Satok 7, the bazaar was officiated by Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki, accompanied by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) deputy director Mohamad Faisal Adenan.

“It is very encouraging and pleasing that after the Covid-19 pandemic, we get to see people going out enjoying the atmosphere while buying cakes and curry at the bazaar,” said Ibrahim when met by reporters after the ceremony.

He added the bazaar was a hit last year as most of the stalls ran out of food by 5.30pm.

“I feel that it would also be the same this year as people who are coming back from work would drop by here to buy their buka puasa dishes,” he added.

Ibrahim pointed out the bazaar is not only for Muslims but for all who want to try Sarawak’s local delicacies.

“This is the spirit of Ramadan in Sarawak, where we get to see the Malays and other races at the Ramadan bazaar. This is the sharing of culture and harmony, which we have in Sarawak,” he added.

Ibrahim also said all vendors were interviewed by DBKU to ensure good hygiene and cleanliness.

“Most of them are repeat vendors. If they have done ‘OK’ in the past, it should be ‘OK’ this year,” he added.

Meanwhile, this year’s bazaar is sponsored by CCK Fresh Mart, Emart Xpress, Mediavature Sdn Bhd and Kuching City Parking System.
