DBKU museum exhibits drawings of cats from Aug 17 to Nov 17

KUCHING: Drawings of cats by 70 students from public and private institutions of higher learning are now being displayed at Kuching City North Hall (DBKU) museum.

The three-month exhibition, Uptown Cat VI, is one of the 18 programmes and activities to celebrate Kuching City 31st anniversary

“The exhibition on the drawing of cats, which was participated by 70 artists from both public and private higher learning institutions is being held from Aug 17 until Nov 17 to celebrate Kuching 31st anniversary,” said Datuk bandar of DBKU Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai at the launching of the Uptown Cat VI 2019 at DBKU office here yesterday.

According to him, the participants were from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Kolej SIDMA, Lim Kok Wing University and Swinburne University.

He pointed out that the exhibition is also part of the effort to promote DBKU museum to both local and foreign tourists, adding that the exhibition is held once in every two years since 2009.

Abdul Wahap also said ths year’s Uptown Cat exhibition is more interesting with the participation of young artists from institutions of higher learning.

At the event, Abang Wahap also presented prizes to the winners.

The champion went to Noraziah Mohd Razali of UiTM with her cat drawing entitled ‘You Found Us’ winning her RM800, a plaque and hamper.

Mohammad Shahmizan Awang Yaman’s drawing won second place with RM500, a plaque and hamper, while the third place went to Chai Cheau Shin who walked away with RM300, a plaque and hamper.

Also present was DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad.
