A SMART HERITAGE CITY FOR A SMART COMMUNITY

KUCHING – The Old Kuching Smart Heritage Agenda organised by Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) in collaboration with Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) will be held from March 25 to 31 at the Kuching Waterfront.
Themed ‘Empowering Smart Community’, this innovative event aimed to assist the local community to assimilate themselves into the digital world without forgetting the cultural heritage that forge their unique identities.
According to Datu Dr Sabariah Putit, Deputy State Secretary and Co-chairman, this event is piloted in Kuching as she believes the city is rich with heritage.
“It is a good opportunity to showcase the local talents in addition to turning the city into a gateway for entertainment and also cultural heritage,” she said at a press conference to promote the event at Wisma Bapa Malaysia this morning.
Mayor of DBKU Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai expressed his thanks to the state government for acknowledging DBKU’s efforts to get closer to the community.
He felt that this joint collaboration is a ‘way forward’ to get a wider range of community to participate and immerse themselves in the event.
The Old Kuching Smart Heritage Agenda will showcase a variety of events that be enjoyed by groups of all ages.
The public can expect to participate in activities that are fun for the family, competitive sports and games besides enjoying cultural performances, talks by university officials and leading health specialists, among others.
Furthermore, The event will incorporate Sarawak Pay which is handled by SMA into its various activities such as utilising the e-Wallet as a payment method for purchases of foods and products.
The press conference was also attended by Datuk Norhyati Mohd Ismail, Special Administrative Officer in the Chief Minister’s Department, Dr Morshidi Ahmad, Director of DBKU and Dr Zaidi Razak, General Manager of SMA. – UKAS
