KUCHING: Members of the public are invited to enliven the Old Kuching Smart Heritage Agenda 2019 programme, which will be held from March 25 to 31 at the Kuching Waterfront here.

Organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) in collaboration with Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), this seven-day event is an initiative to transform Kuchingites into smart city folks in line with the state government’s goal to reach the smart city level.

Themed ‘Empowering Smart Community’, this agenda will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on March 27 at 8.30pm.

“Various activities will be held throughout the programme, including nightly heritage shows, ‘Ceramah Perdana’ by Ustaz Kazim Elias, busking marathon, exhibitions, sports and leisure activities, e-Games, food truck, flea market and many more,” said Deputy State Secretary Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit at a press conference in Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Also present was DBKU Mayor Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.

At the opening ceremony, DBKU would also launch two new initiatives namely Clean, Beautiful & Safe (CBS) Enhancement Plan 4.0 and DBKU Radio, she added.

“DBKU Radio which will be called radioKU is the first local authority radio established in Sarawak. After its launching, it will be broadcast online and can be heard by visiting DBKU’s official website at https://dbku.sarawak.gov.my.radioKU, from Mondays to Fridays starting at 8am until 5pm.

“In addition, we will also use the Sarawak Pay application for all transactions at the Heritage Kitchen, flea market, food truck, expo, as well as sports and leisure activities. This will make the event the first to apply the Sarawak Pay fully for all activities.

“Indirectly, we will be able to educate the public on digital economy,” Sabariah explained.
