KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is planning to create two deputy director-general posts in its bid to improve service delivery and excellent services to their customers.

Its Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said this was necessary because of the increasing number of works in the service delivery section.

“The idea of adding the two posts is part of our new restructuring plan for this year, with the view to improve the quality of service.

“If the proposal is approved, one will head the Operation and Service Division and the other the Technical Division,” he said at their monthly assembly here yesterday.

He said the new additions would also include ‘time-off’, a leisure study for employees with families as well as the use of prudent operating cost without affecting the quality of service.

“Hopefully, with these, we can provide quality service and achieve better management of the city folk.”

Abdul Wahap also said that they would expand their efforts in stressing the importance of practising a healthy lifestyle among the people, particularly the younger generation.

He added that they would work together with UCSI University to make the ‘Smoke-Free Campaign’ a success among the youths, which they also hoped to expand to residential areas.

He also talked about DBKU’s activities and programmes for the year, among them the ‘Majlis Agenda DBKU’ from March 24 to 31.

“The event, to be held at Kuching Waterfront, is expected to be officiated at by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.”

Other events include the 13th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference in July whereby 14 countries from Asia such as Singapore, Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines, have already confirmed their attendance.

Meanwhile, the monthly assembly yesterday witnessed the presentation of awards and certificates by Abdul Wahap to several employees for excellent service, such as Special Appreciation Award, which was presented to a public assistant Azrie Roslan and security guard Roslan Sudin.

DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad and deputy director-general Mohd Khaidir Abang were among those present at the assembly.
