KOTA SAMARAHAN: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) will continue to support effort towards reforestation.

Its director Dr Morshidi Ahmad said DBKU would continue to provide assistance for tree-planting programmes to encourage more participation from the community.

“We have organised many programmes such as Program Rakan Taman whereby all villages can organise their own committee for beautification programme, and we will be assisting them on the planting.

“Besides that, we also have another programme called Kejiranan Mesra where the community will come up with a programme of their choosing.

“For example, if they choose to do landscaping, then we will be assisting them in this,” he said after attending an event at Sarawak Peat Research Institute (TROPI) here on Thursday (July 23rd).

He added that the collaboration of the tree planting programme with TROPI would enhance efforts to conserve tropical peatland in Sarawak.

“This is the first time in which we conducted such programme with TROPI. Such efforts are made to encourage the participation of the community through this kind of activity,” he added.
